Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagicLana Del Rey faced backlash on social media over the weekend after she posted video on her Instagram of people looting during a protest in Los Angeles.
According to screenshots of since-deleted tweets, artists including Kehlani and Tinashe criticized Del Rey for posting the footage.
Kehlani wrote, “Please remove your instagram post it’s dangerous as f*** and a very poor choice of moments to post. By all means protest, but DO NOT endanger people with your very massive platform.” Tinashe added, “Why the f*** you posting people looting stores on your page literally WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM.”
After Del Rey apparently deleted the video, Tinashe wrote, “Thank you for removing your post!”
The criticism over the video follows Del Rey’s controversial comments in which she lamented how artists including Kehlani, as well as Doja Cat, Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Nicki Minajand Beyoncé, can chart hit singles with “songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f***ing [and] cheating,” while she felt she was being lambasted for “glamorizing abuse.”
