Kevin Winter/Getty ImagesA Danish music producer is suing Travis Scott, alleging the rapper lifted the melody for his number one hit “Highest in the Room,” from one of his songs.
Benjamin Lasnier claims he wrote and recorded the guitar lick featured in “Highest” back in 2019, and shopped it around to various music people, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
Lasnier also claims he also posted the guitar recording on his Instagram Stories three different times, reaching more than 700k followers.
The lawsuit alleges Lasnier sent a beat pack to a guy named Jamie Lepr, who worked with Travis, and that Lepr used it without explicit authorization to do so.
Lasnier is seeking damages, as well as a cut of the profits, which he claims is upwards of $20 million for everyone involved in making it.
TMZ cites “a source close to Travis” as saying the suit is “nothing more than a frivolous dispute between producers and has nothing to do with Travis directly.”
