Travis ShinnIt’s a beautiful thing to see two of hip-hop’s breakout stars reach a milestone so early in their careers, as NLE Choppa and Amine earn their first top 10 albums on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
Both artists released their albums on the same day earlier this month.
NLE Choppa’s debut album, Top Shotta, landed at #6 on the list, with 36,000 equivalent album units. At the same time, Amine’s sophomore effort, Limbo, opened at #10 with 26,000 units sold, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Top Shotta boasts singles such as “Camelot” and his gold-certified single, “Walk EM Down” featuring Roddy Ricch, and three new iterations of his ongoing “Shotta Flow” song series, which scored him his first Billboard Hot 100 record.
As for Portland rapper Amine, Limbo marks his first top 10 album, featuring the lead single, “Compensating,” featuring Young Thug, which has reached 8.9 million U.S. on-demand streams and is heading towards placing on the Rhythmic Songs airplay chart.
This album also brought Amine back to the Billboard Artist 100 chart, which ranks an artist’s popularity based on album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction. At #67, Amine returns to this list for the first time since 2017’s Good For You, while NLE Choppa ranks at #25.
