Universal MusicDaBaby has released a fiery “Black Lives Matter” remix of his #1 hit single, Rockstar” featuring Roddy Ricch. The song his debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart last week.
Contrary to the original, this version addresses the “negative narratives” pushed by the media and details his past exchanges with police as a black man amid nationwide protests over police brutality.
“Cops wanna pull me over, embarrass me/Abusing’ power, you never knew me, thought I was arrogant/As a juvenile, police pulled their guns like they scared of me,” DaBaby raps on the track.
The original “Rockstar” hails from DaBaby’s sophomore album, Blame It On Baby, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 after its release in April.
